Working in both wood and metal is what I’ve been doing since working on knives freshman year of college, so each semester I’ve made a project using each one.

This piece is one that has more meaning than my usual pieces, so I’m excited to share the process with you all :)

My second project for my Motion in Metals course.

My second project for my Motion in Metals course. Making these mixed medium sculptures is something that I really enjoy, as you’ll see when I post my bird automata I made last year.

This sculpture was made as a tool for when we get caught up in anxiety about the future, or in other thought loops that keep us stuck in our heads.

Physically pushing a button as a simple way to begin grounding yourself back in the present was something that really resonated with me. Grounding has been the one coping technique that I’ve found to be effective to me, so I wanted to put that I to my art. I expect this to stay on my desk for a while.

This bottle opener is from my first hammer session with the PUMA blacksmithing club. Steel is a lot different from brass and copper! It was much more resilient to being moved, but much more satisfying to hit once it was red hot. I’ve been put off from blacksmithing after burning my hand in high school, but I want to take it back up again now!

One of my everyday wears, and one of the first cuffs I’ve made. Next time, I’d try hot twisting since the stock is so large, and use a tap wrench so I leave less marks.
